My name is Kitty Hamelink. I am 24 years old and I live together with my partner and our 2 cats Bean & Luna and our dog Gaia in Oosterhout, a small town in The Netherlands.
I am someone who transmits knowledge about nature combined with the ancient craft of wool.
Expressing my thoughts and teaching people something about Nature; in a way that people can learn that Nature is our source of knowledge, and I am just a messenger. How can I convey this message? It starts with sharing small pieces of information where people get a little bit of curiosity for Mother Earth. We need that curiosity. We need to go back to the basics. Becoming aware of everything around us; that we are part of the bigger whole.
Nature has always been something I found interesting. In art school my work was always about nature. Finally in the 3rd year of art school my fascination with wool developed and I started making my own wool and learned to spin. I loved working with this natural material and that love for it only grew.
In the 4th year of the Art Academy I did an internship by Roos Konings, she taught me a lot about nature and how to give workshops. That is also where The Wild Wool Workshop started.
I am into foraging, working with wool, knitting, giving workshops, herbal medicines & natural living. One by one topics that are close to me as a person but in my artistic practice also are all connected.
